The Goals of Bnos Leah Preschool

We instill a love of Torah from the beginning. The children are in a rich, stimulating Torah environment, and they love every minute. It is truly the sweet way to learn.

Our partnership of staff and parents is always working on building our children’s self esteem. When a child feels proud of herself and her work, she is encouraged to do well in school, putting care and effort into what she does.

School Trips

We go on exciting trips, or the trips come to us. Whether we are going to taschlich, visiting the fire station or the matzoh bakery, or enjoying a puppet show or petting zoo, the children experience the learning in a fun and exciting way. Parents are invited to chaperone and share in the adventure.

Parent-Teacher Partnership

We encourage a strong parent-teacher partnership. Through weekly classroom newsletters, teleconferences and Preschool bulletin, there’s a constant give and take between teachers and parents. That is because we know that communication is the “key to success!”

Parenting Workshops

We are excited to present parenting workshops to our mothers periodically throughout the year. Questions are answered and strategies are introduced which enable the parents and school to work together for the benefit of the children. These programs are also a wonderful way for the mothers to meet and interact with each other.

Father – Daughter Workshop

Each year, the fathers and grandfathers are invited to join their daughters for a fun filled day of Shabbos or Chanukah themed activities. Braiding challahs and molding candlesticks out of clay are some of the many activities that fathers and daughters enjoy together. This annual event is a highlight for both fathers and daughters alone, creating memories that last a life time.

Mother- Daughter Workshop

In lieu of graduation, the preschool classes host mother-daughter workshops. The children and their mothers may paint in pairs, create a doll, plant, “write a book”, or enjoy an ice cream party.

Lessons Come to Life

Parsha lessons in Prospect Park Preschool come alive week after week. Through creative activities, storytelling and role-playing, the Parshios unfold in a most dramatic fashion. From the Parshas Noach petting zoo to Avrohom’s tent, to the mock wedding from Parshas Chayei Sara, to learning about Serach’s harp, the children are living the parasa we teach.

Alef Bais and Kriah

The Nursery begin their study of the Alef-Bais, learning the letters Alef through Yud. They are exposed to games, stories, art activities and more to enhance this precursor to studying Limudei Kodesh.
The Kindergarten classes continue to learn all of the Alef Bais letter. When they have  mastered letter and sound recognition, they are rewarded with an Alef Bais Siyum!
Our Pre-1A Kriah program, K’riah N’ima, created by the renowned mechanech, Rabbi Meir Zev Blau, allows the children to achieve kriah fluency. The children review each day and divide into kriah centers to reinforce what tehy have learned.
All of the Bnos Leah Preschool children love learning and look forward to sharing their knowledge with their parents and siblings. Their Hebrew vocabulary grows daily.

Building the Bais Hamikdash, Brick by Brick

Before Asora B’Teves, each child creates her own brick depicting a Mitzvah of her choice. Each class then add their bricks one by one to our giant “Kosel of Mitzvos” near the office while singing a special Asora B’Teves song.

Matzah, Matzah Everywhere!

As part of their Pesach preparations, the girls participate in a Frog-a-Thon,a “walk” across the Yam Suf, a trip to the hands-on matzoh bakery, as well as a model seder. Their haggados are full of interactive pages that encourage and enable each girl to be involved in her family seder.

Middos are our number one priority: we model it, teach it, and reinforce it at every possible opportunity. Throughout the month, children bring in middah notes which we proudly display.

Brain Gym®

Brain Gym is a program of physical activities that enhance learning ability, improving mental and physical focus. Each class enjoys a weekly activity with a Brain Gym instructor. The teachers use these in the classroom as well.

Music

Our exciting music teacher bisits each class weekly and encourages the children to sing and dance along to the music.

Preschool Learning Centers

Numerous learning centers are set up in each classroom including: building, housekeeping, reading, manipulatives, and arts center. Each class divides into smaller groups which are then assigned various centers. The groups may rotate from center to center and utilize a different method of play.
